about
I wrote this song at college in 2004. It's about the nebulous are-we-or-aren't-we period in a relationship and the excitement you feel when you think things are about to light up.
lyrics
Verse 1:
Driving by your place in the morning
We're going dancing in the darkness
I thought I'd never feel
I always think I'll never feel
Singing songs to you about nothing
Because nothing fits this moment
You know I'd love to know
But I am more than just a little scared to ask
Chorus:
So I'll take a chance
I'm holding my breath so you can't forget me
Verse 2:
The smell of flowers is your illusion
And morning fog is my confusion
But flowers always bloom in the day
And fog will melt away
And all this happiness ain't leaving
So wake me up I must be dreaming
I know the feeling comes from you
But how do I know it's true?
Chorus:
So I'll take a chance
I'm holding my breath so you can't forget me
But I am just a man
And I'm never gonna know if you won't let me
Bridge:
There's no turning back
Want to try you out
Maybe we'll have fun
Even if it won't work out
There's something strangely fun
Not knowing if you're the one
If you're the one
Chorus:
So I'll take a chance
I'm holding my breath so you can't forget me
But I am just a man
And I'm never gonna know if you won't let me
Now I have a plan
I'll swallow my fear cause I can't forget you
And you will take my hand
I'm so glad you're here and I wonder where you've been all this time
